Emmett @ 2 months

My little boy is already 2 months old! Here is a little update of his life thus far:

- Weighs about 15 lbs. (this was on the scale at home so I'm not sure how accurate it; at his 6 week app't he weighed 13lbs.2 oz.)
- About 23 inches long
- Wears mostly 3-6 month clothing but still some 0-3 month clothing
- Size 2 Pampers
- Sleeps through the night - yippee! His last feeding is at about 9:30-10pm and then he usually sleeps until 7ish. He has been doing this for the past couple of weeks. He still sleeps in our room in the travel crib bassinet.
- Gets the hiccups pretty much after every feeding.
- Dislikes the soother; he is more willing to take it now but usually spits it out after a few minutes.
- Likes his baths & has now started to kick and splash!
- Has started cooing, laughing and smiling lots!
- Still grunts when he is hungry and if we don't get to him in time, then he will start crying.
- Also cries when he is really poopy and just before he falls asleep.
- Grunts when he is feeding (he is so loud when he eats, lol).
- He does like to look around a lot more now and he especially likes to look at Jonas.
- Is awake alot more during the day - usually for a couple hours in the morning, afternoon and evening.
- Likes his swing and will fall asleep in it.
- Like the carseat but will whine abit when we first put him in it but then falls asleep in the car.

Here are a few pictures that I'm sharing with you:

Boys Oh Boys!

I just finished putting Jonas back to bed after he woke up scared (I'm not sure of what) and I got the inspiration to quickly sit down and write this short blog.

As I was laying beside him, I was admiring the peacefulness of my sleeping boy and how innocent he still is! Then I quietly laughed to myself at all of the things that my little boy did this week to test me as a parent, and perhaps to teach me a lesson or two.

Besides peeing in the closet and cutting the duvet cover - both incidents, he had to run and tell me what he just did. Jonas also had a little fun with my ink pads! Though I was upset with him, I did have a good laugh and couldn't resist taking pictures.

I'm not sure if he was licking the ink or just rubbing his mouth. Or he purposely gave himself a mustach!

Yep, even on his feet!

Ok, I do admit that all of the incidents were slightly my fault - I let him run around naked, I gave him his kid's scissors and I let him play with the ink pads. I guess I was hoping that my 2.5 year old would use these privileges properly but I guess he is only 2.5 years old and testing his mommy!

On, a different note, Emmett had his 6 week check-up on Monday and he is perfect! He gained almost 5 pounds - he now weighs 13lbs. 2oz. So it starts already - my boys are going to eat me out of house and home! (Good thing Emmett's milk is free)!

Not looking impressed - but still so cute!

Jonas - 2.5 years

Lately both Cory and I have been feeling that our little monkey Jonas is just that a little monkey trying to see what he can get a way with. He has been a little frustrating to deal with, I think partly because he is a stubborn 2.5 year old and perhaps he feels the need to act out because of all of the changes in his life (ending daycare, moving, new baby). Like the other day, he just had a shower and I didn't put his diaper on right away and then he peed in our closet. He came out of the closet and tells me 'Mommy, I peed in the closet!' So I think he knew exactly what he was doing! Then, not more then a half hour later, he tells me 'Mommy, I cut the covers!' And indeed he cut our duvet cover (not a big cut but still) so I have to make sure that his scissors are put away and I supervise him more closely when he is using them!

Anyway, our big boy is 2.5 years this month so here is an update of his life:

• Ht: 35 inches
• Wt: 27 lbs. (still assuming he is the same)
• Clothing: mostly size 2 (24 M), shoes: size 6 & 7
• Size 5 pampers/2T pull-ups
• Favorite Movie: Has been getting into watching longer movies! Really loves Toy Story 1,2 & 3. Started watching Bolt. Still likes Cars and Wall-E
• Favorite Book: Grandma Halwa gave Jonas a bunch of Tonka truck books and he has been obsessed with them lately. He is really good at identifying what machine is what!
• Favorite toys: He loves being outside! He loves going to the park and quite often he brings his loader and dump truck with him and fills them up with rocks. He also likes playing on his bouncy slide & likes having water fights with mommy. He is obsessed with all of his machines (trucks, loaders, Mack truck etc.). He loves his Buzz Lightyear and Woody figurines and anything Toy Story!
• Favorite Food: It still has been a struggle to get Jonas to eat. Lately he has been eating lots of 'mush' (porridge). He still likes his bananas, apples, noodles, muffins, carrots, cucumbers and sometimes meat (done on the BBQ). His favourite treat are slushies and chocolate covered raisins.

• Other:
o Since moving into our new place, Jonas has become really good friends with the 3 year old boy next door named Thomas. He calls Thomas his 'buddy' and 'my Thomas'. It has been a blessing to have such wonderful neighbours!

o Bedtime is still a challenge. We are at the stage where he doesn't takes naps but sometimes should because he gets really grumpy. If he does nap, then he goes to bed super late.

o Still likes his Ipod and I think he can operate it better than I can (well perhaps not quite).

o Still loves to sit in the van and car (and Grandma's Jeep or Auntie's car) and 'drive'.

o Loves his baby brother and smothers him with kisses. When Emmett is crying he will run to him and say 'It's ok Emmett' or he tries to put in a soother (but Emmett never likes the soother). He also loves to hold Emmett. Jonas will also shake Emmett's arm or leg and say 'This is your arm or this is your leg'.

o Still points at all of the airplanes that he sees in the sky (and now there are more since we have moved to Beaumont). And now whenever he hears a big truck, he runs to the window to see what it is.

o Still refuses to use the potty and pull-ups and tells us that he wants diapers on. (We have to work on this one again). When we do change his diaper and it is poopy, we tell him it is gross and that he should be using the potty (and now he has started saying the same thing when we are changing him - mocking us)!

• Quotes/sayings Jonas commonly uses (his vocabulary amazes Cory and I):

His favourite word is 'what'? I think he uses it so much because he knows that we don't really like it & I know that he can hear us the first time!

Mommy (As Emmett is crying in the other room where Jonas just was): 'Jonas, is Emmett ok?'
Jonas: 'Mommy, he needs you.'

It is amazing how fast time does go and how fast my little baby is growing! Emmett was 5 weeks yesterday!
