Catching up ...part 2

Catching up...again. November continued to be a busy month....

Nov. 12th - this year we were blessed with a very warm fall which has allowed me to enjoy running outside with Jonas. This was on one of our runs, the day after the 1st snow of this winter.

Jonas seems to fall asleep in any form of transportation.

Nov. 14th - we all visited Toni and baby Zackary Helbig. I used to work for Zack's grandparents - Helbig's Farm Market. He is so cute!
Toni, Zack, and their dog (can't remember its name). Zack was 3 months old.

Nov. 19th - we ventured outside with the snowsuit cause it was cold!
Prior to going outside - Jonas all bundled up!

Enjoying a swing ride!

Nov. 23 & Dec. 3- Zech came for a couple of visits. The boys sure love each other - they have these laughing fits, usually at the table; Zech will look at Jonas and then Jonas will smile and then Zech will laugh and then Jonas joins in - its too funny! I've tried to videotape it but everytime I pull the camcorder out they stop!

Zech with a toy stuck on his foot - I got it off but laughed at him!

Zech posing for the camera!

Zech eating blueberries which stained his hands - I'm sure V had to scrub them a few times at home!

Jonas fell asleep at lunch and of course Zech thought that was funny!

Dec. 3 - Jonas in the big bathtub! Jonas no longer need his bath ring, well he hasn't needed for awhile but the bathtub was to slippery for him to sit in so I finally went out and bought a bathtub mat. He loves bath time!

Catching Up...Again!

Again a month has gone by and oh so much has happened. My baby will be 10 months old in a couple weeks - I can't believe it! And soon it is back to work for me. Actually my boss phoned me the other day just to check and make sure that I am coming back to work for sure and for sure I am! I have mixed feelings about going back to work but I guess I am lucky that I had the full year with my boy! Anyway, catch up time....

The month of October was a busy one. Jonas and I finished swimming lessons and then we started strollerobics again but this time we are going twice a week. Thanksgiving celebrations were wonderful - yummy dinners and lots of visiting. The month ended with a fabulous Halloween party for the babies. Here's a picture recap of the events....(I realized now that we did not take any pictures at Thanksgiving so I'm upset at myself...pictures all take place after Thanksgiving so Jonas is over 8 months old)

Jonas having fun before bedtime. (Oct.16)

1st time Jonas stood up all by himself in the crib (Oct. 21)

The night before Halloween we tried on Jonas' Tiger costume. He was tired but I did manage to get a few good pictures.

This picture was taken by Leanne Carrobourg, a lady in my mom's group. She took individual photos of each of the babies in our group (all 14 of them) and she did an amazing job. Check out her website: http://www.leannecphotography.com/

Jonas with grandma Lee. Jonas also dressed up as Yoda. Here we went to Cory's Auntie's place who goes all out for Halloween, hence the mummy.

So far November has also been a busy month. Once again a recap of the month with some photos:

November 1st - we were out at the lake visiting the Lee's, then we headed to the Wagar's for a wonderful supper and visiting.
Jonas enjoying the beautiful fall weather at Grandma and Grandpa Lee's place

Visiting the Wagars! Miss Molly Mouse and Jonas!

Jonas attacking Molly!

Trying to get a picture of the babes sitting...a bit of a challenge!

Nov. 4th - Jonas had his 1st fever which started the day before. He had a fever for about 4 days, followed by a rash. Poor little guy. All he wanted was his mommy!
Jonas and me - Jonas looking a bit sad/sick

Jonas feeling a bit better once he realized that he could reach the camera

Nov. 5&6th - Though Jonas was feeling under the weather, we went out to the Lee's to visit great grandma Hazel. This was the 1st time the Jonas met his great grandma! Very special day!

Jonas and great grandma Hazel. At first Jonas cried when she held him but I think it was mostly due to the fact that he just woke up and he still wasn't feeling like himself.

4 generations minus Cory. Cory was working so he couldn't make it out to the lake.

Jonas and his cousin Riley who is 3 months younger than Jonas but is bigger! Riley came for a visit too with his mom Jennifer and Aunty Myrna.

November 9th - Jonas turned 9th months old. For some reason I seem to forget to take a bday photo all day so then at bedtime I remember and so the photos are of Jonas in his pjs (these blue pjs are my favorite though)

Learning to read!

Picture time with Pooh Bear!

Sitting like a big boy!

At nine months, Jonas can:
-pulls himself up to stand
-walks holding on to the furniture
-crawls on his knees (though he stills drags himself sometimes)
-likes to feed himself
-likes to drink water from a sippy cup
-wears 6-12M clothing and some 12-18M (but they're kinda big)
-weighs 18lbs 1/2 ounce and is 27 1/2 inches long
-still in his bucket seat and loves to nap in it

Nov. 11th - Remembrance Day will be more remembered in our family because that was the day we took Jonas to the emergency room for the 1st time. Jonas awoke from his 20 minute nap and didn't want to be in his crib any longer. He stood up in his crib and banged his lip and teeth on the crib railing and his mouth was bleeding. He tore the gum between his 2 front teeth, no stitches required thank goodness. Apparently that is a common injury among babies but Cory and I decided to go to the emergency just to make sure that he was ok and didn't need stitches or something. I think Jonas was doing way better than his parents for he was smiling and flirting with everyone in the emergency room:)
One happy camper for banging up his mouth!

More catching up to do tomorrow......

Giving Thanks!

Once again I find myself struggling with this blog of mine but I'm back. Being that it is Thanksgiving I thought it would be appropriate to list a few of many things that I am greatly thankful for.

1) Good health for myself and my family! I have continued to keep up with my running and strollerobics, and I have been feeling great (though I do struggle mentally to get motivated). I did participate in the 5K run for the Cure and I was amazed as to how many people came out for this run/walk - but then again cancer does affect everyone :(

2) A Warm Home! At a time of economic slow-down, I am grateful that we have our little townhouse and a new furnace!

3) A Wonderful Family! My little baby is 8 months old already - I can't believe it. Cory and Jonas are my life and I love them both so very much!

4) Good Times with Family! Cory babysat so I could go to Sheryl Crow with the Lee ladies and to CATS with my mom! Both outings were a lot of fun!

5) My Sister and her Family! They are backed in Edmonton for awhile so I am so happy to have them so close again! And Zech calls me Aunty and Cory Uncle so that melts my heart!

6) My Mom! Enough said...

7) Yummy Turkey Dinner! Thanks to my mother in law - she always makes such wonderful meals! ;) Jonas loved the turkey dinner too!

It was a wonderful long weekend especially since Cory was home for 4 days! As the weekend comes to an end I am sadden by the fact that it would have been my dad's 65th birthday on Oct. 14th - may he rest in peace!

Now I leave you with a few pictures of my boy...

Enjoying eating leaves!

8 months old and boy what a face;)

All smiles!

Goodbye Summer - Hello FALL!

I just realized that FALL officially starts tomorrow-crazy! And again I am wondering where the time has gone. Last week was wonderful weather wise but I was sick (either food poisoning or the 24 hr. flu) so that kinda put a damper on a couple of the days. And then I realized that if I didn't extend my mat. leave from 8 months to the full year, I would be going back to work in a week - wow, I would not be used to that!

Anyway, so many wonderful things have happened this past months - well mainly to or about Jonas, may I reflect...

1) Jonas finally loves to eat something! I started feeding him pieces of food rather than 'mush' and he loves it. He especially loves cucumbers and mangos. And he loves to drink water from a cup.
Yummy FOOD!

2) Jonas and I spent the day with Aunty Karen at Body Worlds! All I can say is unbelievable - go check it out - I think it runs until the 13th of Oct. at the Telus World of Science. Jonas was well behaved and actually fell asleep while we were there.

3) The Lee family (yep, Cory had the day off) went to the farm and Jonas fell in love with the puppies and the dogs. We also had a wonderful visit with the Kvarnbergs and Aunty B and Uncle Norm.
I love PUPPIES!
Playing at grandma Halwa's

4) Jonas loves to ride in the shopping cart like a big boy. The one day I took him shopping he sat in the cart, looked at everyone, everything and used his outside voice to show is excitement :)

'Mom, no pictures please!'

5) We had a family photo session done by my friend's boyfriend and he took some amazing photos! Thank-you Jason! (though Jonas was tired he still did so well for the photos). I'll post some later...

6) Jonas and I are taking a few activities together - we are in strollerobics, sing, sign, laugh and learn session and tomorrow we start swimming. Jonas also comes running with me - last week we went for a 9K run in the river valley (a trail with few hills so pushing him isn't that hard)!
All ready for a run!

7) Jonas turned 7 months this month and once again we did our Walmart photos and his weigh in. He weighs
17 lbs. 14 3/4 ounces and is 27 inches long. Lately he has been a bit fussy at night due to his teeth but overall he is a happy baby (as I am listening to him cry his head off - nap time in his crib). Also, mom wanted me to take a 'hat' photo to match the one Vanessa did of Zech. Zech was in a red cap with two fingers in his mouth and so I took pictures of Jonas in a blue cap with his feet in his mouth - LOL!

I love my feet!

Jonas then started posing- I'm not sure what he was doing with his hands but my he looks so cute!

Jonas in his new coat from Grandma Lee

8) Once again we had a wonderful visit with my grandparents, though it is hard especially now since my grandma has really started to fail this past year. This visit, my grandma was so impressed by Jonas' jeans and like always she told me that Jonas will have big feet when he grows up (size 9)! Grandpa enjoys seeing Jonas too - he likes to pat Jonas' head and imitates Jonas' 'words'.

9) Aunty Vanessa came for a visit. Vanessa was in Edmonton for an interview so she stayed with us for a couple of nights - it was so nice to see her! Jonas started a new laugh while V was in town (he would suck in air as he was laughing - too funny).
Jonas and Aunty Vanessa who is all dressed up for her interview (she looks so beautiful and smart)!

10) Jonas had playtime with many babies from the mom's group. It is so funny to watch babies interact - a few times Jonas had toy wars with a couple of the babies.

11) Lee family day at WEM waterpark was so much fun! Cory took a day off so we went to the waterpark. It was nice because the place was not crowded and both Cory and I were able to go on a couple slides while the other watched Jonas. We spent a good couple hours there and by the end I think we were all so tired!
Playing in the kiddy pool

12) Last night Cory and I were discussing some of the things Jonas does that makes our hearts melt, here is our list:
- When Cory gets home from work Jonas gets really excited, kicks his legs, flails his arms and gets all giddy - it is so cute
- Now when he eats, he opens his mouth like a little birdie and then he attacks the food and grabs the fork
- At the moment we co-sleep and when Jonas is hungry at night he gravitates towards me with his arms a flailing to find me
- Jonas loves bath-time and sitting in his bath ring but he especially loves the one shiny screw in his bath ring and tries to suck on it (though it is hard for him to reach but he tries)
- When he gets upset and wants his mom, his 'mmmm' sounds come out and he says 'mamamamama'

Excited to see daddy home from work:0)

Fabulous Five!

Once again the time flew by and once again there is so much to be grateful for. I am grateful for:

1) Completing the 5K running clinic and running the ING 5K fun run. Now I am in the 10K clinic with my running friend Stacey.

2) Our new KING size bed! Jonas loves it too!

One big bed for one small baby!

3) RAIN! August has been hot, hot, hot, so the rain has been a nice change!

4) A wonderful summer with Jonas! We have been visiting many friends and family so it has been busy, busy, busy, so much so that I don't know where the summer has gone!

Jonas with my well-travelled, childhood friend Erin!

Jonas sharing with his friend Maeve - oh so cute! It reminds me of the movie 'Lady and the Tramp'

Jonas in his pool on a hot summer day!

5) My wonderful boy Jonas! I can't believe he is 6.5 months old. Today we weighed him and he is 17 lbs. 8 oz. and 26 3/4 inches - wow! The biggest changes that I have noticed in the last few weeks are his ability move (no, he is not crawling yet), he loves to sit, then roll to his tummy and then lift himself up with his hands; his ability to grab for his toys, with his hands and feet; and his ability to feed himself (he really dislikes when I feed him). Oh, and he already has 2 teeth!

hum-mm, which toy do I want now...

Jonas feeding himself! Too bad he can't clean himself!

6) My hard working husband! He has been working every day since the long weekend so I can't wait until he finally gets some time off, which is this weekend - yipppeee!

My two favorite people!
