Welcome Baby Beckett!

Congratulations go out to Kristy (Cory's sister) and Derek on the arrival of their new baby boy Beckett Eli. Beckett was born March 2nd, weighing in at 7lbs. 15ounces and 20" long. He is such a cutie! We are excited to watch the little guy grow and achieve the many milestones in life.

Some pictures I'm sharing with you:

Baby Beckett - around 4 hours old. Oh so cute!

Jonas - about 12 hours old. Do you see any similarities?

Jonas and Beckett - I'm sure they will have lots of fun when Beckett is a bit older!

Beckett - 5 days old.

Cousin Isabella (3 months old) & Beckett

Jonas absolutely adores his cousin Beckett and talks about him lots! Every morning when I tell Jonas that he is going to go see Ritchie (his daycare teacher), he says 'No, I want to see Beckett!' I have to assure him that we will see Beckett soon. But Jonas is kind of funny because when we did see Beckett this past Sunday, I think he completely ignored Beckett and he seemed to get a bit upset when grandpa was holding Beckett. Well, I'm sure he will become best buds with little Beckett soon!

Maui, 2010

(At the beach, enjoying the sun, sand and surf. Somebody else made this sign and Jonas was really tempted to destroy it!)

After wishing, dreaming and praying that we would go on a vacation before Jonas turned 2, it all came true when Cory won a trip through work. At first Cory was told he won a trip to Vegas, which we were half excited about since we have been there, done that. As it turned out, we got to choose where to go (within a budget) and so Hawaii it was!

Since we wanted a direct flight, we ended up flying out of Calgary which allowed us to visit with the Gooches before we flew out. We had a wonderful visit and little Zechy even wanted to come to the beach with us, awe!

We flew out on Monday (Jan. 25th). Our journey began with a rough start as the GPS directed us to the new Iron Mills Mall vs. the Park'n'Fly so we ended up taking the back roads to the airport. Then we were in a rush to get into the Park'n'Ride van that we misplaced our brand new ipod touch - we took a round-trip in the Park'n'Fly van to check our van for the ipod but it was no where to be seen. By this time we were running a bit behind, so we had to forget about the ipod and worry about catching a plane. Thankfully the airport was pretty quiet (perhaps because it was a Monday) so getting to the gates went really quickly.

And so our journey began. Jonas did really well on the plane ride - he slept for a good 3 hours, he watched his movies, and he had to burn some energy by walking up and down the aisles. After we arrived on the island, Jonas ended up getting a fever. We ended up taking Jonas to the doctor and we found out that he had an ear and throat infection. Even though he was sick (& whiny), Jonas still had a good time in Hawaii. We were supposed to fly back home on Monday (Feb.1) but Jonas' ear infection was not completely gone so we extended our vacation until Friday (Feb. 5). Here are a few highlights of the trip:

Our resort - The Westin Kaanapali on the west side of the island.

Exploring the island - this was a beach north of the resort.

Jonas relaxing on the balcony.

At Wailea Beach (southwest side of the island)

Whale watching!

Mommy and Jonas on the whale-watching boat. Thankfully neither of us got sick but Jonas did fall asleep on the boat.

After whale watching - Jonas playing (or chasing birds) under the huge Banyan Tree near Lahaina Harbor.

At the Westin Maui waiting to go to a luau. Jonas almost made a splash!

At the resort beach - Jonas loved when Cory buried him in the sand!

Bath-time after a day at the beach.

At Maui Ocean Centre (in Maalaea - 20 min. south of our resort).

Posing for a picture!

The cool Pirate ship at the resort for the kids (& Cory). Jonas liked the hot tub more though (this pool was too cold for him).

The 'fake' looking beach picture at the resort beach.

Having fun with daddy or killing some time before our dinner reservation.

When we needed a break from the sun, sand & surf (& free WiFi & coffee), we would hang out at the Barnes & Noble bookstore - Jonas loved to play with the train.

Family photo at the beach!

Cory had lots of fun playing in the sand & Jonas enjoyed destroying everything Cory made for him including his name!

We enjoyed hanging out at Big Beach (south of Makena on the southwest side of the island) on our last day in Maui before flying out at 8pm that night. The parking lot for this beach was packed full but the beach itself is so big that you don't notice all the people.

Fully buried in the sand and loving it!

Oh how we wish we were back on the beach.....

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to the Lee family!

February is birthday month in the Lee household so a time for many celebrations! Cory’s birthday was yesterday (Feb.8), Jonas’ is today (Feb.9) and then mine is on the 19th. This year our birthday present was a trip to Hawaii. Though we won the trip (air and hotel) we ended up staying an extra 4 days and spending a bit more money than anticipated….more details in the next entry – this entry is for my baby, um toddler boy Jonas.

I can’t believe my baby is 2 years old! He has brought so much joy to our lives and I look forward to all the many more milestones that he will go through in his life. Anyway, the update of Jonas at 2 years old:

• Ht: 33 inches
• Wt: 25 lbs. (and this time we actually weighed him)
• Clothing: mostly size 24 months, shoes; size 5 & 6
• Size 4 pampers
• Favorite Movie: Has been getting into watching longer movies! Really like Cars and UP.
• Favorite Book: Still loves the Picture Dictionary book. We are amazed as to what words he remembers and can say. Goodnight Moon 1, 2, 3
• Favorite toys: We were away for 2 weeks and when we returned Jonas had to take out and play with all of his toys (I think he missed them all). He still loves his kitchen, his slide, all of his trucks, his chunky puzzles, his tool set. Lately he really likes batman and Mater (from Cars)
• Favorite Food: Still loves his noodles (or mac & cheese) which he requests for breakfast too! Loves muffins and pickles too. Mealtime has been a struggle….

• Other:
o Likes to talk to pop-pop on Skpe or the phone
o Likes to 'eat' mommy's and daddy's noses (our version of the 'got your nose' game)
o Has been sleeping in the big bed and likes to look at the glow-in-the-dark stars on his room's ceiling

• Highlights of this past month (Jan/early Feb.):
o 3rd haircut
o 2nd airplane ride - all the way to Hawaii
o Loved the sand especially when daddy would bury him
o Started to potty train but digressed during vacation
o 1st ear infection - which caused our extended vacation in Hawaii

Pictures I'm sharing with you:

My boy Jonas (pointing at something)

Being goofy - he thought putting his chair up on 'daddy's' chair was the greatest thing!

3rd haircut - he was a good boy because he had a sucker and was watching Cars.

2-Year Pictures at Sears (I still have to crop them though). Jonas did really well for his 2-year photos, he would listen to where the photographer wanted him to stand, place his hands or lay down, ect.

Birthday Cake Pictures!
In awe with the candles!

Jonas loves ice-cream cake - can't you tell!

23 Months!

So I missed Jonas' update for 22 months and I'm late on 23 months but I guess it is better late than never. Anyway, here is the update of Jonas at 23months (Jan. 9/10)

Jonas’ growth and milestones:
• Ht: 33 inches
• Wt: my guess is still about 25 lbs.
• Clothing: mostly size 18-24 months, shoes; size 5
• Size 4 pampers
• Favorite Movie: Still loves the short films; Same Difference is his favorite (Robot movie which has dancing so Jonas dances along, which consists of spinning around and around, so much so he usually ends up falling down)!
• Favorite Book: Still loves the Picture Dictionary book. We are amazed as to what words he remembers and can say
• Favorite toys: Has been enjoying some of his new toys from Christmas; Elmo, all of his trucks, board puzzles (still loves the number puzzle the best though), his slide, his kitchen, camera,
• Favorite Food: Still loves his noodles (or mac & cheese), bananas and apples, muffins, cheese.
• Other:
o Likes to talk to pop-pop on Skype or the phone
o Likes to take ‘Molly’ (picture of his friend Molly) on rides in his truck, dump truck, etc.,
o Has been enjoying looking at pictures of all of his relatives and is getting better at saying their names
o Likes to tell mommy and daddy where to sit while he is playing with his toys. ‘Mommy, sit here’ as he points to the location
• Highlights of this past month (Dec/early Jan):
o 1st tractor ride with Grandpa Brian on Christmas Day
o 1st sleep-over at Grandma and Grandpa Lee’s all by himself (Mommy and Daddy missed him greatly)
o Feeding Koba and Maggie doggy treats
o 1st time eating doggy treats & I think he liked them – gross!
o 1st 2-year old Molar – I think he has been teething this whole month and the molar is still not fully in!
o 1st time pooping on the potty (Jan. 7th) and then we have been continuing to potty train Jonas so far he has been doing really well. Enjoys naked time as his reward after he poops on the potty.
o Counted to 7 all by himself and out of the blue (Jan. 12)

Everyday my boy amazes me and he is such a joy in our lives! Some photos I'm sharing:

Christmas Photo - don't we all look excited!

Jonas' Christmas Photo. It was so hard this year to get a 'photo shoot' of Jonas. He wanted no part of pictures. We didn't even get a picture of Santa - mainly because Jonas was too scared!

Riding the tractor, Christmas Eve at Grandma Halwa's

Having fun at Grandma Lee's and Pop-pop's (Christmas Day).

Sleeping after a busy day.

Jonas and baby Genesis. He loves to hold GG - so cute!

The 3 cousins = Jonas, GG, Zech!

Taking pictures of each other!

Showing off at Aunty Gail's! (New Year's - Jonas also enjoyed watching the fireworks that night).

Driving Miss Molly!

Family photo minus the Gooches - Bill, Mom, Vinny, Mel, Jonas and Cory.

Jonas and Elmo and his 2 pandas.

Playing with candles - yikes - good thing they are LED ones!

Goofy Jonas!
