Emmett @ 5 weeks

It is amazing how fast time does go and how fast my little baby is growing! Emmett was 5 weeks yesterday!

Here is a little update of his life thus far:

- Weighs about ? - we still have to weigh him but at his 2 week appointment he weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz.
- Wearing 0-3 month clothes & some 3-6 month clothes
- Just upgraded to size 2 Pampers
- Pukes up a lot. Jonas spit up a lot whereas Emmett is a puker. He doesn't puke everyday but when he does, it is a lot and both of us have to change our clothing.
- Gets the hiccups pretty much after every feeding
- Dislikes the soother; he will take it sometimes but usually when I try to give it to him, he gives me a disgusted look and clenching his gums together.
- Likes his baths
- Has started cooing
- Starts grunting when he is hungry and if we don't get to him in time, then he will start crying
- Grunts when he is feeding (he is so loud when he eats, lol)
- We like to think that he is smiling at us but perhaps it is just gas!
- He does like to look around a lot more now and he especially likes to look at Jonas
- Has a dimple in his chin plus a little dimple in his right cheek
- Sleeps a lot and has a good 5-6 hour sleep at night
- Has had his first little cough and a pusy eye
- Got his 1st mosquito bite plus a few more - not fun!
- Went to his first wedding
- Went on his first long car ride (to High River, AB, about 4 hours) and did really well - slept most of the time and woke once to eat
- Has had lots of visitors & met a lot of people in his first month

Introducing Baby Emmett Logan!

We are delighted to announce the arrival of our son Emmett Logan, born June 28th @ 5:16pm, weighing 8lbs. 7 oz. and 20.5 inches long. Even though it has been a couple of years since Jonas was born, we are re-learning what it takes to care for a newborn! It definitely is a different kind of adjustment with the 2nd one! Cory is home for 2 weeks which has been a blessing but I'm dreading the day he goes back to work and then I have to take care of 2 kids all by myself!

The birth of Emmett didn't go exactly how I imagined it but I guess they never really do. It all started on Monday (June 28th), Cory and I went to the Grey Nuns at 8am so I could be induced. I had mixed feelings about being induced, for one, I was never induced with Jonas so I thought why should I be induced with this baby, and also, I heard that when you are induced the contractions are way more intense! But this baby wanted his own unique birth story and so I was induced! I was induced with Cervidil (so no drip, thank goodness) and had to stay in the hospital for about 3 hours so they could monitor the baby and myself.
At about 11:30 am, I was allowed to leave the hospital (no progress of labour, though the Cervidil takes a few hours or so to kick in). I was feeling good so we decided to run some errands. First Cory and I went out for breakfast/lunch at Cora's, then we went shopping and Walmart and Costco. Mild contractions started in Walmart and then while in Costco, the contractions started to get a bit stronger and were probably 5 minutes apart. I told Cory that we should hurry home to unload (since we had some frozen items) and then go back to the hospital. Oh, before we went home, we stopped at A&W for lunch (I had a craving and I was worried that if I didn't eat now, who knows when I would be able to eat). At home, my contractions were about 3 minutes apart, consistently for about 1 hour so onward to the hospital we went!
It was about 3:30pm when we made it to the hospital. I first had to wait and get checked out in the assessment area. At this point the nurse told me that I was only 1cm dilated! Then they monitored the baby and myself for about an hour, baby's heartbeat looked good. Against the advise of the other nurses, my nurse decided that instead of sending me home (since I was only 1 cm), she told me to walk around for an hour and then she would assess me again (this was at 4:30pm). I walked around the labour ward for about 30 minutes and with the help of my wonderful husband, I was able to cope through the contractions. The contractions started to get more intense and I kept thinking - 'I'm only 1 cm and these contractions are brutal, how I am going to do this - damn Cervidil!' Then my water broke and another nurse had to check me (our original nurse went on break because she thought she had some time before she had to check me again). So just after 5pm, I was at 9 cm and the nurses rushed me into the labour/delivery room and at 5:16 pm (4 minutes of pushing), baby Emmett came into this world! It happened so fast that both my doctor and my doula missed the delivery! A resident doctor actually delivered Emmett! So there you have it - Emmett's arrival into this world! We are so blessed!

Jonas - 2 years, 4 months (28M)

It has been awhile since I actually posted a Jonas update. He is about 28.5 months old already (so almost 2.5 years)!

• Ht: About 33.5 inches (if I recall correctly because we packed up his height chart)
• Wt: 27 lbs. (still assuming he is the same)
• Clothing: mostly size 24 months, shoes: size 6
• Size 5 pampers/2T pull-ups
• Favorite Movie: Has been getting into watching longer movies! Really loves Toy Story 1&2, Wall-E and Astro Boy
• Favorite Book: Still loves his Picture Dictionary book (& now I even have to tape this book up since it is so worn) and One Fish, Two Fish.
• Favorite toys: We finally unpacked some of his toys so he has been enjoying his fire station and truck and kitchen. It has been nicer outside so he has been enjoying the park, his house and his slide.
• Favorite Food: Still loves his noodles (or mac & cheese) which he requests for breakfast too but now he likes eating them uncooked! Loves bananas, muffins and carrots. Still really loves his milk.

• Other:
o Jonas ended daycare at the end of May and he doesn't seem to miss it. When we ask if he wants to go to daycare and gets upset and says 'No, I don't want to go to daycare!' Though sometimes he talks about Ritchie and his friends.
o He likes our new house and his room with his new double bed and Cars bed set, though sleeping has still been a challenge. We still have to snuggle with him at bedtime and he wakes up a couple times a night calling for mommy!
o Likes to sing (on his own terms though not when you ask him to). He likes singing ABC song and his pretty good up to G. He likes to sing-a-long with songs that he hears on the radio and TV (but sings la-la-la).
o Is obsessed with Mack trucks (from Disney Cars movie) and anytime he sees a big truck on the road, he points at it and calls it Mack. Then he also says 'Mack truck is going to dump the garbage.' He also likes to sit and 'drive' Pop-pop's Mack truck.
o Still loves to sit in the van and car (and Grandma's Jeep or Auntie's car) and 'drive'.
o Likes to feed Coba and Maggie doggie treats.
o Likes to give mommy kisses on her arm. Mommy's arm is also Jonas' security blanket and he will often say 'Mommy, I want to hold your arm.'
o Has a love/hate relationship with the new baby on the way. Sometimes he will come up to me and kiss my belly and say 'hi baby.' Other times he tells us that he does not want a baby and he doesn't want to be a big brother. I guess we will see what happens when the baby comes!
o Sometimes likes to pose for pictures and then he must see the picture on the camera afterwards.
o Points at all of the airplanes that he sees in the sky (and now there are more since we have moved to Beaumont).
o Refuses to use the potty and pull-ups and tells us that he wants diapers on. (We have to work on this one again).
o Jonas stayed over-night at Grandma Lee's and Pop-Pop's place for 2 nights without mom and dad. He did really well and even slept really well (the sleeping part was what we were worried about). Some of the highlights at his grandparents' were: throwing rocks in the river, driving the Mack truck and Jeep, and crawling through the doggie door to see what Coba was up to!

• Quotes/sayings Jonas commonly uses (his vocabulary amazes Cory and I):

Mommy/Daddy to Jonas (when he has pooped his diaper): 'Jonas, are you Stinky Pete' (from Toy Story)
Jonas: 'No, I'm not Stinky Pete, you are Stinky Pete.'
Mom/Dad: 'No, you are the stinky one, I think you are Stinky Pete.'
Jonas: 'No, I'm not Stinky Pete, I'm Jonas!' (Or sometimes he says that he is Mater, LOL)

Mommy: 'Jonas, mommy is going to the doctor.'
Jonas (when mom gets back from the doctor): 'Mommy, you were at the doctor? Mommy, you are feeling better now!'

Jonas also knows all of his Aunties and Uncles names plus he calls his grandmas by their last names! Though now he has been calling Cory and me 'Daddy Lee' and 'Mommy Lee'!

He likes to say goofy sayings like 'hokey dokey', 'yep, that's right', 'What cha talking about?' (from Toy Story)

When Jonas is not listening, his punishment is 2.5 minutes locked in his room. Then he is supposed to say sorry and I have to remind him to listen so I ask:
Mom: 'Jonas, what do you listen with?'
Jonas: 'I listen with my ears.' (as he pulls them outward to show me where his ears are)

Then the conversation goes like this:
Jonas: 'I made mommy upset.'
Mom: 'Yes, you did because you were not listening.'
Jonas: 'I couldn't get out of my room, the door was locked.'
Mom: 'Yes, it was locked because you needed a time out.'

There are probably a few more, perhaps I'll add them later!

Some photos I'm sharing with you:

Jonas at Mommy's work place seeing all of the dump trucks dump the garbage plus the loader and grapple moving the garbage. (this is probably why he thinks all Mack trucks dump garbage)

Karate moves at the playground!

Can you tell he didn't want his picture taken!

Posing with Coba!
And again!
And again!

Going for a workout!

Life Changes

So much has happened since my last update (in the last month) that I don't even know where to begin...

Let's see:

1) We sold our townhouse and bought a house all in the same week! It was very stressful because the purchase of our new place was dependent on the sale of our townhouse and even though we knew that the offer on our townhouse would go through, the sale seemed out of our control. We officially took possession of our new place on May 31st. We moved the majority of our stuff to the new house on June 5th with the help of Cory's family - so a big thanks to them again (we can't thank them enough). We still have a few more things to move out of the townhouse. I don't think we realized how much stuff we did have until this move. Thank goodness that we had 3 weeks to clear the townhouse!

Our new house in Beaumont!

Our back yard which backs onto a park. We also live a few doors down from Vanessa's and John's good friends (who have 2 kids, who are 2 and a few weeks old).

2) I finished work at the EWMC at the end of May and will be off on maternity leave for 1 year. I thought most of my projects would be all done by the time I left, but this was not the case. I'm confident that my good friend and colleague will do a wonderful job to complete my work (she hasn't been bugging me for help/clarification so that is good).

3) We pulled Jonas out of daycare at the end of May. I think I was more upset about Jonas quitting daycare than he was. We have been enjoying our time together at home.

Jonas with his caregiver Ritchie on his last day of daycare.

4) Now we are waiting on our new little one to arrive. My official due date is June 20th - yikes 6 more days! We still have to do a few things before this baby come (install the carseat in the van for one)!

39 weeks pregnant!

Fabulous 5

Since I can't seem to find the time and energy for an update - I thought I would go back to the fabulous 5 things that I am thankful for lately (short & simple):

1.) Good Health. It seemed like the whole family has been sick monthly and finally for the past couple weeks we have all been in good health. (Just always tired though).

2.) Doulas and Doctors. I am 34.5 weeks pregnant and I have a great support team that will help me deliver this baby! I have a different doctor this pregnancy and so far I really like him. I will have the same doula as last time and she was great!

3.) My 2 boys - Cory and Jonas.

4.) Selling our townhouse and buying a house in Beaumont, all in 1 week. It was a very stressful week but everything was finalized on Monday and we move at the end of the month! We are all so excited - even Jonas says 'I want to go to Beaumont.'

5.) My mother and mother-in-law and all the things that they do for me and my family.
